Unable to accept updates after renaming project

Sumit

Dear All,

I downloaded the Project renaming utility and renamed a project, all went
fine.

Now when the PM clicks "Update" on web access (to accept all the updates
from resources) it says "....unable to locate the project <>\Name.Published,
please check if the project has been renamed or moved...."

Any suggestions?

Regards,
Sumit.

Sumit --

I also had this issue while experimenting with the Rename Project utility.
The source of the problem was that a project manager had a task update that
was sent to him/her BEFORE you changed the name of the project. The task
update is tied to the original name of the project, so when you renamed the
project and then the PM tried to process the task update, the system could
not find the project under its original name. You will need to do the
following:

1. Ask all other PM's to approve and update all task updates into their
project plans (DO NOT proceed until this step has been carried out by every
PM)
2. Rename the project back to its original name
3. Ask the PM with the problem to process the task update
4. Rename the project to its new name

An alternative approach would be to do the following:

1. Ask all other PM's to approve and update all task updates into their
project plans
2. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
3. Click Admin - Clean up Project Server database
4. Select the Tasks option for "All Assignments" and "Ever Sent"
5. At the bottom of the page, select the "Delete the specified items for
only this user" option and then select the team member who sent the update
causing the problem
6. Click the Delete button
7. Ask the team member to resubmit the unprocessed update

In the future, do not rename any project until all PM's have confirmed that
all task updates have been processed. Hope this helps.

Dear Dale,

Thanks a lot for the solution. Actually while doing some R&D I found that in
the Project Server DB the value for Field: WLocal_Path (in table
MSP_WEB_Projects) was set to original project name, the moment I renamed that
the update started working.

But I am sure what you suggested was a better way to do this.

Regards,
Sumit.
