Upon reducing a website page to open an MS Word file, there was an apparent
conflict with a Norton Systemworks 2002 virus sweep that had been scheduled
to come on at that time. When this took place, a large number of error
windows appeared on the screen instantaneously. After closing all that I
could, I restarted the computer in an effort to get rid of everything and
start again. When it booted back up, I chose my account to enter. It
displayed the desktop background and then immediately logged back off. It
does this same thing on all accounts.
I re-booted in safe-mode, with same results.
I restored the ( last known good settings ), with same results.
I changed the BIOS to boot up to the Norton CD, and ran a virus check. It
only scanned 7900+ files, but found nothing.
I am out of options that I know of. Can anyone offer any advice?
