I created a Drug Test table and designed a form from that table based on an
employee payroll ID, pulling the employee's name from the employee payroll ID
table. One of the fields I added to the form was the Key ID from the
employee payroll ID table. I entered 292 records using the lookup employee
payroll ID.
But, I needed to change the employee payroll ID to a Key ID (all applicants)
as the primary lookup because the drug tests are done before a payroll ID is
assigned and I found drug tests on folks who quit before they were assigned a
payroll ID.
The Key ID/name table contains records of all applicants and last year's
employees, as well as this year's employees, and the employee payroll ID
table has the Key ID cross-referenced for this year's employees only (I just
took over this job this year).
So, even though the Key ID populated for each payroll ID, I was unable to
enter the data for those employees with a Key ID but without a payroll ID.
I added a Key ID lookup field to the Drug Test table and proceeded to lookup
(enter) the Key IDs for all 292 records on the form.
But, when I tried to add the Key ID name fields to the form from the Key ID
table, the current employee payroll ID name fields already on the form turned
green and an error message appeared. (I had hoped to double-check names from
the Key ID and payroll ID) and then delete the payroll ID name fields. I was
worried that if I deleted the payroll ID name fields first, I might have the
wrong name show up for the drug test.
So, in frustration and ignorance of Access, I just designed a new form,
using the Key ID lookup field (now that they were all entered into the Drug
Test table) and pulled the name fields from the Key ID table. I kept the
employee payroll ID field in the table and form, but didn't pull any data
from the employee ID table.
But now I'm unable to add new records to this new form. This new form has
only the original 292 records from the table. The old form is now gone and I
have no backup files to retrieve the prior table that I deleted in
frustration.
HELP! I need to add more records to the new form!
