Unable to connect connectors

Barb R.

I'm trying to put a connector between two autoshapes in a complex drawing
canvas. The little blue dots on the autoshape are not being displayed for
one of the autoshapes when I try to add a connector. I have confirmed that
it is an autoshape as opposed to part of a larger object. Can someone tell
me what I need to look for to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Barb,

Is this in one of the long and complex documents you've
been working on or a new one?

It could be a bit of corruption in the document if you're
inside of a drawing canvas in Word 2002 or 2003 (?) and the
connector isn't working on all the shapes.

You may want to try using File=>Save as Web Page, close
Word, reopen and then save as a .doc file to a new name and
see if that helps.

Is it one of the documents from HELL? You bet! I'll try saving as a web
page tomorrow.

Remember, these docs were originally set up with VERSIONS and have been part
of a MASTER/SUBDOCUMENT Arrangement. In my view, they are set up for
corruption.

Bob,

I'll send the doc to you, but I'm not sure where to send it. I've removed
all of the identifying information and it's only autoshapes, but I still
can't connect a couple of them. I've even saved the document as a web page
and back to a WORD doc and still am having a problem.

Hi Barb,

You remove the extra bits of the email address used here
<75214.226(At Beautiful Downtown)compuserve.com>
to send the doc and any notes on its creation you think
may be helpful.

I've since discovered that the autoshapes that I was trying to connect were
not at the top of the stack. I thought I'd checked that, but apparently
not. Thanks for your assistance.
