Hi, When trying to create a subweb for an existing project in Project
Server, I get the following VBScript error message: authentication
failed.

Project Server is installed in ServerA and SQL server installed in
ServerB.

You really haven't posted enough information to provide you with any help.
If you've got the time to post specific facts and the history of your system
and the history of the problem, maybe someone can respond.

L

Lynn

can you tell me what informations you need?

i have 1 domain account which i used in COM+
i have also run proxycfg.exe
restarted IIS
and the problem could not be solved. pls help. thanks

Lynn:

How about starting with basics:

How many servers
What's installed where
Is this a brand new install
Did this ever work

The fact that you decided to use only domain account for your COM+
applications indicates that you didn't follow the installation guide. For
instance, the account for WSS must have specific database access for site
provisioning to work.

L

Lynn

How many servers - 1 Project Server, 1 SQL server
Is this a brand new install - Yes
Did this ever work - nope

the accounts used for WSS in the installation guide are local accounts.
If i have project server installed on 1 server and SQL DB on anther
server. Will COM+ still work with local account?

No, you should create domain accounts for these purposes. Local accounts are
acceptable in a single server implementation. Make sure that you assign all
the necessary rights to both your OLAP and WSS admin accounts and follow all
the post installation instructions or you're going to go through the same
pain when you want to fire up the analyzer as well!

L

Lynn

i have created a domain account and assiged local admin rights on both
servers. Run COM+ with this account and it still doesn't work.

under Documents -> View and Upload Documents in PWA.

i got this error:

Microsoft Project Web Access Documents and Issues are based on
SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft.
A SharePoint Team Services subweb needs to be created for your project
before you can share project documents or track project issues. Subweb
creation takes a few minutes, so if the project was just published,
wait a few minutes and then visit the page again. Otherwise, please
contact your system administrator.

Gary,
i can't follow the installation guide as i am only allowed to use 1
domain account instead of 3 different accounts for COM+.

how should i proceed?

Lynn:

You still haven't got things configured correctly. Like I said, because you
chose not to follow the installation guide anything more I can add would be
really big SWAG.

You might consider starting again from the beginning, as mucking around with
an already failed installation attempt seems to dig the hole deeper for most
first-timers.

Lynn:

The 2002 version asked for three accounts, the 2003 version asks for two
accounts. So, now I'm wondering what version you're installing. If you're
not allowed to use more than one account, the result is that you'll have a
less secure environment. A rather silly and irrational rule, don't you
think?

If it must be one account, then the account must have all the
characteristics required by all the services for which it will be used.

L

Lynn

i can only use one account and i have configure the characteristics
required by all the services in this account. How can i verify that
this account is has all the necessary permissions?

L

Lynn

i verified it against the installation guide but it still does not work.
is there a utility to do this?

Lynn:

I'm not saying that at all. I'm thinking someone needs to establish a live
communication link with you to sort this out. With desktop sharing tools,
someone can likely help you through this. How about Microsoft Support?

Hi Lynn,

I wanted to know whether the integration between the project server and WSS
has gone well or not. When you go to PWA-Admin-Manage Windows Sharepoint
Services and click on Save Changes on that window, does it throw any error or
saves successfully?

Hi,
When i go to PWA-Admin-Manage Windows Sharepoint Services and click on
Save Changes on that window.

I got this error:
Microsoft Project Server cannot connect to the specified Web server
running SharePoint Team Services.
