"Unable to Display the Folder" msg, can't delete folder

Office 2000 - SP3 v. 9.0.0.6627

I created a copy of an existing calendar folder. When I select the new
folder, I get the msg: "unable to display the folder." I want to delete the
new folder, but all events relative to this folder are disabled. How do I
get rid of this folder?

Any comments on what might have gone wrong when I created the copy would be
appreciated too, so I don't duplicate the problem when I start over

HELP - Now it's a real crisis.

I just created a "new" appointments folder. Not copy. just new.
Immediately after creating, the "unable to display" msg was returned for the
original calendar mentioned in the above post too. Is all my work gone?
