Unable to double-click an Worksheet to open it

When I create a new workbook in Excel 2007 and save it, I cannot
double-click the workbook to open it. I get the error: “Windows cannot find
“file name and pathâ€. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try
againâ€. I can open it with Excel’s Open command, but it will not open from
the Recent documents list.

This just started to happen. I’ve had no problems with the program since I
loading it a few months ago.

Go into Office button>Excel Options>Advanced Tab and then uncheck
'Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)'

Nick:
I've done this. It has no effect.

I am having similar issues. In addition, where there are spaces in the
filename and path(e.g., C:/ComputerName/Laptop/ Person X/Financial
Model.xlsx), a MS error message occurs for each point in the filepath and
filename where there are no spaces. I checked another posting that offered
this as a cure:

Start/Run
excel /regserver

this did not help.

any ideas?
