Unable to double click office file from either Outlook or Windows

Hi,

I'm using Windows XP and Office 2003. When I double click on any office
file (Word, Excel, PP) from within either Outlook or Windows Explorer, the
program hangs and I have to use the Task Manager to log off the computer and
log in again.

I feel that this is an Office issue since I am able to open WordPerfect
files from within either Outlook or the Explorer.

I tried restoring and repairing Office but that didn't help.

Any suggestions?

There's no printer installed on this computer.

Was it ever set up to use a remote printer, or someone removed the printer?

No, this is a brand new computer with everything being installed just about a
week ago!

Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall Office? I'm able to open documents
fine from inside the programs so this problem isn't stopping me from working.
It just bugs me when things don't work right!

In light of the new information, You may want to disable your anti-virus
software Office plugin. Please review the help section for your A-V
software.
