Unable to edit/type in documents

I can open word and excel documents, but can't make any
changes. It does say the application is already
activated when I look in the help menu. I tried to
reinstall and register, but nothing changed.

Do you have a trial version of Office? If so, perhaps the trial period
has expired. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=831023 "How to
