Unable to install Office 2003 service pack 2, suggestions?

In the Office update, it says that Office 2003 service Pack 2 is required.
It downloads, but doesn't install. I've tried even with the antivirus turned
off, but the service pack still fails to install. Suggestions?

I have been having the same problem. Have you tried the 3 suggested fixes
under "Get Help and Support/Solve problems on your own/Try solving your
problem with the troubleshooter"? I have, and none of them solved the
problem for me. But one of them may work for you.

Some have reported that placing the Office 2003 CD in the drive before trying to
install the update also fixes the problem.

Otherwise try repairing your installation of Office 2003

Method 1 – Open Word, go to Help – Select Detect and Repair

or use Method 2 -

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Add or Remove Programs.
3. Click the Office 2003 program that you want to repair, and then click Change.
4. In the Maintenance Mode Options dialog box, click Reinstall or Repair, and then
click Next.
5. In the Reinstall or Repair Office dialog box, click Detect and Repair errors in my
Office installation, and then click Install.
6. When the repair process is finished, run the update again.

Most likely you will need to have your Office 2003 CD handy.

I performed an office repair via the Word Help menu. Office SP2 and Outlook
2003 Junk Email Filter (KB904631) both installed successfully afterwards.
