Unable to install Project Standard 2007

I have installed Project Standard 2007 on my Vista Ultimate system. The
installation ran fine but when I try to start Project several configuration
screens are displayed and then finally I receive the message "There is not
enough memory to complete the operation. To free up available memory, close
programs, projects, or windows you aren't using, and then try again." The
system has 2Gb of RAM of which only about 1Gb was in use. I have also tried
running the program by clicking on the file name in Explorer and running as
Administrator. The result is always the same. I have also tried detect and
repair and uninstall and reinstall all to no effect.

I have completely run out of ideas and would appreciate some guidance.

I managed to fix the problem myself after getting a hint that it might be a
registry permissions problem. I fixed it by downloading the resource kit tool
subinacl (it isn't advertised as Vista compatible but it seems to run just
fine) and issuing the following two commands to grant administrator access to
all registry entries:

subinacl /subkeyreg KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f
subinacl /subkeyreg HKEY_CURRENT_USER /grant=administrators=f /grant=system=f

After that I was able to start Project 2007 as an administrator but running
without administrator privilege resulted in the whole configuration issue
again.

I then guessed that the problem was the Project entries in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
so I gave user read access to those by issuing the following commands:

And finally I can start Project with no configuration screens appearing at
all. I suspect that the user level commands on their own would be enough to
fix the problem so I would start with just those.

I am having this same issue and have spent 3 days trying to get it to work
without having to do the registry stuff mentioned above.

I even spent 3 hours on chat and the phone with microsoft vista group and
still couldn't get it to configure without the "not enough memory to
complete" error.

Ready to throw Vista out the window. I have installed Project 2003 to see
if that would work and get the very same error.

Anyone that has an easy fix from Microsoft on this it would be much
appreciated.
