Unable to install update 12.1.0

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I have downloaded Update 12.1.0 but when i open the installer, a problem occurs. I can't select a destination-volume and I get the following message:

"You cannot install Office 2008 SP1 Update (12.1.0) on this volume. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

The software on my computer is version 12.0.1.
