Unable to logon to Project Server

We had Project Server 2002 installed in a test environment for a few weeks
and one user was testing it. We were ready to move it into production, so I
installed and configured it on our production network. Now, the user who
was previously working with the test Project server is not able to logon to
our production server. Everytime he tries, he gets the License Agreement
Page. He checks the box to agree and clicks Next, but it brings him right
back to the agreement page.

Has anyone seen this behavior before? How do I fix it?

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

When you move from one Project Server environment to another, the ActiveX
controls (like the timesheet grid control) keep tabs on what server they are
connected to. When you try to connect to another environment, they can get
confused. This is actually a really simple fix...

1) Close down all web browsers and Microsoft Project applications.
2) Run one copy of Internet Explorer, go to the "Tools->Internet Options"
menu items and choose "General".
3) Click the "Settings..." button, then the "View Objects..." button.
4) Delete any files located here that start with "pj". Click OK on all
windows and exit Internet Explorer.
5) Re-run Internet Explorer and connect to Project Server. The license page
should go thru this time and the user will be asked to download controls
(Click on "Yes" for all of them).
6) PWA should now be running in the new environment!

Ask the user to manually delete the Project Server CAB file objects from his
IE cache.

Steps:
1. Close all instances of IE.
2. Start a blank instance of IE.
3. Select Tools->Internet Options->Settings->View Objects

This will display a list of "Downloaded Program Files"

4. Select the entries beginning with PJ... and delete them
5. Close all windows and dialogs opened above.
6. Restart IE and attempt to log in to Project Server again.
7. The user should be prompted to download the CAB file again.

Hope this helps.
