Unable to open an mdb file with ms-access

I am trying to open a .mdb file and ms-access (95) running on windows
xp pro
refuses to open it. (Yeah, its an old version, but its the only version
i have).
I get a "Unrecognized database format:D:\pathname-to-mdb file".

I tried to open the file using perl and the odbc driver, and i still
get an
incompatible error.

I am trying to figure out if i can use the right version of access/or
the
right version of the odbc driver, maybe i can salvage the file
somehow ???

Are there tools out there to help resusitate this file ???
Even programatically, if i can pull out some/most of the records, it
would be great...

Any help would be appreciated !!!

Here is dump of the header of the mdb file.

Technog1,

ANYTHING created after Access 95 will not open in Access 95 because of the
file format change that happened with Access 97. The only thing that comes
to mind is to upgrade but not sure if Access 2007 opens anything before
2000, haven't tried it.

You can open an Access 97 file with Access 2007 but an Access 95 db would
need to be converted to Access 97 by Access 97 (possibly 2000, but I don't
remember if that was possible) before you could do that.
