Unable to open attachments in Outlook 2001

For two weeks after installing Outlook 2001 the user could open
attachments by just double clicking on them. Still could early this
morning. Suddenly, in mid-morning she started getting the following,
"The application associated with this attachment could not be
started". If the attachment is saved to the desktop a double click
will start the necessary application.

She is running OS X and Outlook in the Classic mode (OS 9.2.1)

I have reinstalled Outlook 2001 but that didn't help.

any thoughts?

Hi Jim!

A hunch.

You can still rebuild the Desktop when starting Classic mode by holding down
the Command + Option keys after the icons load.

Try this and see what happens.
