unable to open http://

I routinely receive Excel spreadsheets via Outlook from a colleague who uses
an update function that I don't. Whenerve that person sends me a revised
spreadsheet, I have to go through about a dozen messages to the effect
"unable to open http://...\*.xls. Cannot locate Internet server or proxy
server" before the spreadsheet will open. Is there a way to bypass those
messages and just open the spreadsheet directly? I am using Microsoft Office
2007 on Windows XP. Most of my colleagues are a version behind me.

first thing is this is not the right forum for your question.
Anyways, try to open the excel file by downloading it to your local machine
or try to copy the path and open it from a browser.
