Unable to open jpg attachment in Outlook 2003

Double clicking on a jpg attachment says !Application not found. It does not
say what app is not found. It does not give me option to associate a program
with jpg.

WinXP is configured to open jpgs in Windows Picture & Fax viewer. Clicking
on jpg file in Win Explorer opens it correctly.

I have admin privs.

I have searched and searched but cannot find any Outlook configuration
option about this.

Actually no, because I have no trouble opening other attachments (pdf, doc
etc), and I only built this system last week. However, tried it now. There is
only one file in that folder.

BTW Win explorer would not show me the \Temporary Internet Files\OLKBF
folder, even though I run with "don't hide protected operating system files"
and "show hidden system files and folders". Fortunately, command line DIR
showed it.

Is there a registry key that tells outlook what app to run to open a jpg?

I know, that is because the Temporary Internet Files folder is a special
folder as the guide explains.

Outlook doesn't have to do anything with opening attachments. You can set
your file associations in Control Panel-> Folder Options-> tab File Types

As explained in my first post, Windows jpg association was already set up and
working. However, I have fixed this problem, without knowing why, by changing
the association to MS office Picture Manager.
