I use Excel 2000 on a P42.8GB Win-XP-Home-SP2 platform. For the most part I
have had no dificulty. Recently I have begun to have need for somewaht larger
workbooks containing one or worksheets. Each worksheet is relatively simple
containing only two or three columns of hyperlinks data copied from an
internet database but having no complicated features such as graphicss etc
and no formulas or other complicated functions. I have had two cases just now
where after creating and saving the workbook, trying to open the workbook
failed and crashed Excel and on one occasion even crashed the whole computer.
One of the problematic files was about 3.5MB and another was just a little
over 1MB. As Excel is the most suitable means for handling this data I am
very inconvenienced by the inability to to open a file created on the same
computer. I also wouldn't think these files are be too big for the fairly
powerful platform I am using.
