unable to open office documents

I am unable to open office documents stored in "MY Documents" folder directly
from Word or Excel. The programs stop responding. I am able to open them by
closing Word or Excel and then opening my documents and selecting the file i
desire to open.

You have the KB908531 problem. Remove that microsoft update.
Instructions were posted in this newsgroup on Friday.
