unable to open word documents

If I create a document in word (Office XP) after saving
the document I am unable to open again. I get the messge
the file XXXX.doc is not available.

The only thing I can think of is I started to install
Office 2003 but stopped after I could not find the
license .

Hi Jon, I am having the same problem. I have spent numerour hours trying to fix this problem. I have tried everything everyone suggested with no luck. I am at the point where I might have to re-install Office XP and stick with it. This is ridiculous.

This may also be caused by Norton Anti Virus. The solution is to open NAV
and disable the Office Plug-in option.
