Unable to open Word

I am unable to open Word or get in to any Word documents
either through Word or Works on my PC. I am sure that I
have had a virus, but not sure which one and that this has
caused the problem. Any ideas?

I too have had Word2000 lock up. I suspect updating Adobe
Reader to v6.0.2 with Win98SE. Does this match your
problem?

Susan, when this happens to one of our users, we replace
the Normal.dot in the template directory with a new one.
If you don't have one, just renaming it or moving it out
of the template directory will create a new one. I would
also check the startup directory and make sure there isn't
another instance of Word hanging it up. If there are ~
codes in the file names that means that Word is opened.
You can also check the Task Manager under the Processes
Tab and look for Winword.exe and close all files with this
name. Careful! This will really close Word (if that is
what you meaning to do. Hope this helps.
