Please help, I just did a completely new install of xp pro on my computer. I
installed my office programs and they work but I'm having a issue with
Outlook. When I launch the program it loads and the I get the message "unable
to open your default e-mail folders. could not open the item. Try again." If
I click ok (the only option)it asks me "if I would like to open my default
file system folder instead". If I click yes it does so, If I click no the
program shuts down. I backed up my files and tryed to restore them to the
outlook folder but that did't help. The options menu under the tools menu is
not selectable, however I was able to set up my properties by right clicking
on the program launch icon (not a short cut icon). From there I was able to
set up my e-mail. I don't know what else to say.

The message you got usually pertains to Exchange. Do you connect to an
Exchange server? If so, are you using a roaming profile on your domain?

You can also change your mail settings by creating a new mail profile in
control panel | mail.

Your mail profile does not have the Personal Folders service correctly
defined.
