Unable to publish from new computer

I changed from a computer using Windows 2000 Professional to a new computer
using Windows XP Professional. I can publish with FP2002 from the old
computer with no problems but get a message that the web doesn't exist when I
try from the new computer. Any idea what the problem is?
Thanks

oooops, sorry about that 'Wandawil' -- I meant to publish that to the
group -- here goes again:
Are you able to publish to a different folder on your hard drive, but not to
the http:// site on the internet?

Yes I can publish to another folder on my hard drive but not to the http://
site. When I try to publish to the web it asks me for the user name and
password which still works fine on the old computer but now after entering on
the new computer it pops up another window asking for the user name and
password again and will never accept it. Then it says the web doesn't exist.
Thanks for your help!

If you're on XP, are you using domain\username instead of just your username?
(I'm having log on problems after going to XP... but am finding lots of
others with the same problem, but no solutions)

I've tried both ways with no luck.
Thanks.

I remember having a problem with publishing the first time from the xp
computer also -- unfortuneately I'm not sure of the resolution. I think that
I HAD to add the network site to "my network places" before it would let me
publish. I believe it was then that xp asked me for username and password.
And after it was added, I think it was then that I could finally publish.
Even tho it was added to 'my networks', FP still will prompt for the
username/pw when publishing to the net - although it does allow me to save
it so I don't have to re-enter each time.

How do you actually save the pw and username? When I try to publish from FP
it asks pw and in username box it puts the computer name slash the username.
That's not the same as the user name for the ftp server so I have to change
it. And there is no check box for "remember username and password." How did
you make FrontPage remember the pw and username?
Thanks

You do not have to have a site or subweb listed in network places before you
can publish to it.
Use File->Publish Web/Site, and in the dialogue type in the full URL of the
destination.
Example http://www.example.com/subwebname/

You may not need the www, or the trailing /

If the sub web does not exist at the destination, FP will ask if it should
be created.

Then you will be prompted for Username and Password.
The above will fail if the host does not allow Subwebs, or does not allow
their creation in this manner.

I usually find that if the root web is in Network Places, subwebs of that
web will not appear there, unless manually added.
