I'm seeing exactly the same problem. I have excel "xls"
files that worked fine on Friday, and then when I tried to
open them on Sunday, I couldn't. Same exact error that
Carol is seeing. In my case I was able to copy the file to
another workstation and it opened just fine. So, that
tells me that something has gotten hosed on my laptop with
Office 2000. I'm also seeing a similar problem in Word
with a different error message. Both started failing at
the same time. I've tried an Office "Detect & Repair", and
I've also found some references on MS TechNet to this
problem, but no details on how to solve. Anyone have ideas?
