Unable to rebuild database

Hi, I am using Leopard 10.5.2 and Office vx. I archived and installed when upgrading from Panther. I have two questions please.

1) I am unable to rebuild my database since upgrading to Leopard, inevitably there will be a price to pay for this in the future when it all grinds to a halt and nowhere to go. Can this be fixed.

2) I have some old e mail addresses which still appear in the new mail window when I type a persons name. How can I delete the old ones as they do not "Fall away" of their own accord.
Thank you

It could be a permissions problem. When you upgraded to Leopard how did
you install?

1. Upgrade Mac OS X (the default upgrade method)
2. Archive and Install
3. Erase and Install

You do realize that Entourage X is not Daylight Saving Time compliant
and that it is End of Life software. You can update to the Home &
Student version of Office 2008 for around $130.
2) I have some old e mail addresses which still appear in the new mail window when I type a persons name. How can I delete the old ones as they do not "Fall away" of their own accord.

This is the Most Recently Used list. You can select to Clear All.

To clear ALL there is a preference in Mail & Compose: Clear List
button. There is also an option in the preferences to disable this
feature all together.

Diane,
Thank you for your help I will reply as follows:
1) I archived and installed last upgrade to Leopard

2) I did not realize this software had an end date. When is it and although I have looked closely at the site for an upgrade I cannot find any link to upgrade from this OSX version to home version which I would be happy to do if this will fix problems.

3) I have repaired permissions on a regular basis.

4) I can now see the clear all button re the latest addresses and I am sure this will work, however is it possible in this version or the upgrade to remove the items one by one and if so how.

Thank you

"End of Life" does not mean you have to stop using it. It means MSFT will no
longer support or update it. You'll find the latest update 10.1.9 here:

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/downloads/mactopia_dl.html>

You can upgrade via downloads (free) when it's an upgrade to the same
version (10.0 to 10.1.9), but to update to a new version i.e. Entourage X to
Entourage 2004 or 2008, you must purchase the product. This link takes you
to Amazon where you can purchase the Home & Student version of Office 2008
for $129.99 (ships for FREE with Super Saver Shipping.)

To clear a single address, add it exactly like the one that is remembered to
your address book and mark it as Junk (or assign category Junk). You can
just delete the address, but if you receive it again it will just be added
back. Marking as junk will permanently remove it from the AutoComplete list.
