Unable to register document error when opening existing documents

I have recently experimented with Windows Services on Windows XP
Professional, setting some services to manual to gain system performance, but
since then I may have inadvertently chosed a service required by Office. The
problem I have now is that every time I try to open an exisiting document, I
get an error message :
"The document could not be registered. It will not be possible to create
links from other documents to this document (C:\...<nameofdocument>)". After
I click the OK button, the document is displayed fine; this just annoying.....

Any suggestions please?

Either Word needs reregistering in Windows or you are using Norton Anti
Virus.

In the case of NAV, deselect the Office Plug-in option.

For the latter, from Start, Run, type in

winword /r

and press enter. Word will reregister.

Thanks Terry. I fixed the problem another way, as I checked another users's
XP Services Settings, set mine to mirror his settings, and all is well again.
