Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

Hi,

was encountering pbs with excel. any clic on format/cell menu makes excel freeze. I uninstalled office 2004 and want to make a new clean install from the original CD.

There the following pb appears : after accepting the terms of the licence, the installation assistant program freezes and never moves to the next screen.

I repaired authorisations several times, update prebinding without success

any idea ?

thanks

You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again
rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Several users have reported this fixed some odd
problems they were having with Office. Combo updaters will install on the
same version as they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Leopard:

Mac OS X 10.5.4 Combo Update
(For both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs )
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx1054comboupdate.html>

If your base files are not repaired by the combo, you might need to do an
"Archive & Install."

Check your drive to be sure you have enough free space. A minimum of 10%
free space is required.

Thanks Diane,

I was able to reinstall Office 2004 11.0.0 after running the updater combo. But from there, unable to update office with SP1 (11.1.0).
the following error code appears " error 11002:2,-15"

and Console recorded : com.apple.launchd[69] ([0x0-0x1f01f].com.MindVision.InstallerVISE[199]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 202 PPID 1 LaunchCFMApp

thanks for your help

Download and install the latest Office 2004 updates, which are the Office
2004 11.5.0 and 11.5.1 updates. You don't need to worry about the 11.1.0
update because that's included in the 11.5.0 update.

In Office 2004, use Microsoft AutoUpdate to get the latest updates. From
any Office application, go to Help > Check for Updates (or manually launch
Microsoft AutoUpdate from the Applications folder). If any updates are
needed, they will display in a sheet, at which point you can check them and
press the "Install" button to download and install them.

Updates can also be found at the Microsoft web site:

(11.5.1) http://snipurl.com/3gdjb

Low level errors like -15 indicate disk problems. Be sure you run Disk First
Aid in the Disk Utility and if you have Disk Warrior I would run that too.
