Unable to Reinstall Office

I uninstalled Office 2007 and later decided to reinstall it. Every time I
try to reinstall it I get an error message the the installation was
unsuccessful. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the file
compatablility exe (2007Cnv.exe). I still can't get a successful
installation. Any ideas?

The compatibility pack severs a totally different purpose. It provides
file converters to older Office versions so that they can use the file
formats of 2007. Make sure to uninstall it on a machine where you want
to install 2007.
You might want to use System Restore to restore your system to the point
prior to first installing Office 2007, and then install it again.

On an earlier thread on the same unsuccessful install issue, I saw a comment
that the compatablility pack had to be installed before Office. Since I
hadn't uninstalled it after uninstalling Office 2006, I tried the
uninstall/reinistall approach to see if that cured the reinstall problem. It
did not.
