When opening MS Word (MS Office Professional 2003) it says an error
Occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly, run Detect &
Repair to
restore this application. But when I do that it comes back with " No valid
sequence found for this feature." What can I do about this? Please help as
I try to do the Repair, by inserting then clicking Setup with the orig MS
Office 2003 Pro (Home use Program) CD installed and At the Windows Installer
see "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it. (all files appear to be readable to me on
the CD). Contact the application vendor to verify this is a valid Windows
Installed patch package." I also tried system restore and that did not
resolve either.. Moreover, when I try to get help it says the PID I read
under Help About on the original CD Microsoft sent me is invalid.. Please
help .. i MUST get this fixed some how.. V/r JimS

Some of the data the installer is looking for is missing or corrupt.
To correct it you will need to zap the Windows Installer entries in
the Registry and reinstall Office.

Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office
to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD:

Wow, i can't tell you how happy I am that this worked, and allowed me to
re-install Office 2003 and get going again .. the only odd thing I see now is
the Prompt says that it's running the installer each time i double click a
..doc file.. that i can live with since it's onl;y displayed for 2 seconds
each time.
