Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

I just purchased a brand new mac pro and wanted to install office 2008. However, the disc couldn't run and nothing appear on the screen, the disc just bounce back out automatically. I called the company where I purchased the software, they said there is nothing wrong with the disc because they get it directly from Microsoft. Is there any thing I need to install before I run the disc?

Can you test in another computer? It could very well be a bad disk and if it
is, report back and tell them you tested and it won't work on another
computer. If they fail to replace the disk, let me know and I'll report them
to Microsoft as a vendor that refuses to help a customer replace a defective
product.

I tested the disk in an Apple retail store this weekend. They said it's a bad disc. So I call Journey Ed, where I purchased the software, they couldn't do exchange or refund because the product has been open. However, if I didn't test the software, how could I know it is a bad disc? They just refuse to do anything to help me. Is there any other ways to get my money back or do I have to deal with Microsoft directly?

I've sent your info on to Microsoft. Can you contact me off list so I can
have your email for further contact? If you have the email receipt for your
purchase, that would help too. Use "Forward as Attachment" to send it to me.

Send me an email: dianeross at mvps dot org <-- fix before replying.

No need for receipt. Just contact me off list and Kurt, our friendly contact
at Microsoft will get you a new disk.

Office is not available FREE from any reliable or legitimate source & the
updates do you no good unless you have a valid installation of the software.

You can download a Trial version but it is only valid for 30 days, at which
time it will expire. You might have a look at some of the open source
software such as Neo-Office.

Do you have Office 2008 installed or are you trying to update a previous
version of Office? If you are simply trying to update your Office 2008
version, see this page

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/error/not_found.html>

BTW, 12.2.1 requires 12.2.0 be installed first.
