Unable to save pub file to cd-rw

S

Suzie

I am new to Windows XP and all of the wonderful things
this program has to offer...to others, at this point. I
recently [two weeks ago] purchased a new HP Pavilion and
had the TEACHER/Student version of Publisher 2003 into
the system. Here are my problems:
1. Although my CD-RW will save pictures, I cannot save
Pub files that are "read-only"? How in the world did I
manage to put them in "read-only" mode and how do I put
them in a mode that will save to the CD-RW.
2. Please send any information that will help me.
3. Is there literature available for PUB 2003. As a
teacher, I need time to digest information from a digest.

Thanks to all who can help with this.

Hi Suzie,

I'd recommend you try to save the file to a hard disk first and then copy it
across to your CDRW (in my computer). (This may be what you have already
tried)

If you still get a read-only problem when you try to copy the *.pub file
from the hard drive:
1. make sure publisher is closed (so that the file is not loaded while you
are trying to copy it)
2. Right-click the file in my computer and click on properties. Ensure that
the read-only option is not ticked. Click OK and try copying the file again.

See if that fixes the problem. I've had various issues in the past with
copying files to CDRWs but this is usually due to the CDRW (packet writing)
software.

Sorry, I can't help you regarding the literature on publisher... perhaps
someone else will post some suggestions.

All the best,
Gordon.
