File properties changes when saving to CD-RW

When I try to save a file to a CD-RW disc the file property changes to "read
only" and I am unable to change it. If I uncheck the "read only" box and
click on apply I get an error message telling me that I am unable to save the
changes. Why?

Unless you formatted the CDRW disk for packet writing that is the correct
behaviour. An un-formatted CDRW disk acts exactly the same as a CDR disk
with the exception that you can delete and add files. That is all.
In any case, you should never edit an Office document directly from a CDRW
even if it's been formatted to do so.

Hio DL,

No, that doesn't change the *media*. It only changes the way the files are written. Your original reply ignored the media.

Hi DL,

As the OP said, it's a CD-RW. Thus it is not read-only media.
