Unable to save word document after Service pack 3 is intsalled

Dam this automatic updates. will now be disabled.

MS Office professional 2003. Using word for school work. After typing for a
while (usually auto save) either click save as or save icon. Box with file
location does not appear and nothing happens. If I do not save changes closes
immediately.

Only difference in computing evironment is the service pack 3 being
installed on automatic updates.

Does anyone know the fix or work around. Right now I'm going to uninstall
and disable automatic updates. But there has to be something easier.

There is no 'autosave' in word - see

As for your immediate problem, there was nothing in SP3 that should cause
Word not to save. Chances are that you have a conflicting add-in. See
