Unable to self sign a macro

Using Excel 2007
I get an error msg 'an error occurred during certificate creation. Selfcert
was unable to create your certificate'.

I am trying to do this on a spreadsheet used in Excel 2000. For now I am
not upgrading the spreadsheet when I save.
