Unable to send/receive mail"verify and rebuild the entourage database"

M

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

The subject is self-explanatory: I cannot send or receive emails, and the error message pops up (170) stating that I need to quit and restart Entourage, and if the problem continues, I might need to verify and rebuild the Entourage database.

Restart: didn't work
Deleted the email: didn't work
Deleted and re-entered my identity: didn't work
Verified and rebuilt the database: not working either.

Now what? I'd prefer not a total reinstall of the program, since I think I might have to reinstall the entire office suite, which would be a hassle, though perhaps not as much of one as this....

Deleted and re-entered my identity: didn't work

Let's be clear on terms. Did you delete the Entourage Identity, (Main by
default) or did you delete the Account?
the error message pops up (170)

This is an indication of database problems. When you installed Entourage
2008, did you import from your old Identity?

For Exchange users, we recommend just creating a new Identity in Entourage
rather than trying to rebuild.

I suggest two things:

1) Download the combo updater from Apple and run it again rather than using
Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially problem-causing files.
Several users have reported this fixed some odd problems they were having
with Entourage. Combo updaters will install on the same version as they¹re
applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Tiger:

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (PPC)
<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateppc.html>

Mac OS X 10.4.11 Combo Update (Intel)

<http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411updateintel.html>

2) Create a new Identity in Entourage and let your Exchange account sync
back up.

One last thing...how full is your hard drive? You need a minimum of 10% for
free space.

I deleted both identity and account, and did not import from my previous identity. I also have plenty of HD room, and the combo update did not work either. Is there something else that is the problem? I still have access to my email account through my internet browser, so I doubt it's my email account itself.

When I delete the account and/or identity, and set it up with both the automatic set up, and then advanced set up. Still not syncing.

Thank you for your help, Diane, and I appreciate your continued assistance.

I'm confused. Are you <[email protected]>? The quoting below does
not make sense. We see odd replies like this and it seems to be one of the
servers that does this. Can you ask your question again? If you are not the
OP, then please start your own thread. It's less confusing.

I think that was a glitch above, because it's the same post I started with. My school (and employer) has a walk-through identical to the ones you linked to, but with the school's information set in, which I followed.

I'm not sure if you are saying your problem is fixed or if you are the
original poster.

I was referring to the message from benjamin miller... problem still not
fixed.

Try setting up an Identity in a new User.

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Open Entourage and
enter your Exchange account.

Let me know if it works in a new User.

did not work in a new user.... maybe I should try a re-install?

First try applying the latest Apple combo. You might even need to do an
"Archive & Install" if that fails.

I'm not sure installing Office will fix an Exchange account. If creating a
new account in a new User does not work, then something is wrong at the base
system level.

The last time I had to do an "Archive & Install" the only thing I had to
re-install was my Microsoft keyboard software.

When I get a chance to run home and find my restore discs, I'll attempt it and get back to you. Thank you for all the help!

I'm not sure how to archive/install, so I'm backing up my information and dropping my laptop off at my school/previous employer's IT Support so they might be able to work it out. Thank you for your assistance, and hopefully they'll be able to work it out.

Hi,
Mac OS X 10.6.8
Entourage 2008 version 12.1.5
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error 150
Quit and restart Entourage. If this problem continues you might need to verify and rebuild the Entourage database.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The error comes only when i try to SEND emails. RECEIVING is ok.

I opened the Database Utility, Verified and Rebuilt. Error kept.

I created a New User, ok, but I need all my Inbox emails to answer, I need to import them. I did it to the New User, importing a .rge archive called Main Identity.rge that I previously exported from my Error Main Identity.

Made this, exported and imported archives to the New User, only a few emails received was imported, like until November 2016. But i need my current email, the ones which i received til today, to answer them.

How can I proceed to solve my problem and get back to a normal email????? URGENT
