Well,
I have run into a similar problem, and this is the way I ended up solving
it. My situation involved making many changes to the project plan that lead
to deleting tasks, renaming them, etc. Essentially resulting in many tasks
that were showing up on the ProjectServer as deleted but were not in the
actual project plan. There were so many tasks for some folks, that using
the "click on a single tasks and hit hide for each one" was just insanely
painful.
So I ended up getting everyone to update the ProjectServer with their latest
actuals, and submitting them, then updating the project plan with those
updates. Then deleting the project from ProjectServer and then republishing
the entire project plan. Then I went in and deleted all completed tasks
since that is essentially the only option in PS 2002 for removing tasks. I
don't know why there is not some "remove deleted tasks from ProjectServer",
and maybe there is but I don't know where.
Anyway, that was my manual solution to the problem.
If there is a better way, I would love to know as well.
