Unable to update office 2000 with office 2k SR1a

I have a problem of being unable to update office 2000 with office 2k SR1a,
it shows the log error "update did not complete successfully"

Please help - I need this update installed and SP3 on this.

I have exactly the same problem as the OP. My versions are Office 2000
Professional running (happily) with Vista Home Basic.

Following upgrade to Kaspersky 2010, it identified a number of potential
problems with components of Office 2000 and gave me various patches - which
would not instal.

Investigations showed that I needed to first instal updates SR1a, SR3 plus
other subsequent updates.

When I tried to install SR1a, it showed the same log error as the original
OP "update did not complete successfully".

Peter suggests SR1 needs to be installed first before SR1a but on the list
of MS 2000 updates yesterday from the UK, I cannot see an update called SR1 -
only the one called SR1a.

Can anyone advise me what I am doing wrong? Is it to do with "Pro" rather
than "Std"?

Peter you are not correct. SR1a was issued to correct some installer
problems on some systems. With respect to Office 2000, SR1 and SR1a are
identical. If a user was able to install SR1 {before it was replaced with
SR1a}, then SR1a was not required.

I've been struggling with this issue for over 2 weeks now, getting urgent.
I've never been successful in retrieving the update files, everytime I get a
'Page cannot be found' and the 166kB SR1-A update does not download the
files, as it is trying to download the same ones....
Does it have anything to do with the fact that it has a WIN98 in the path?
Did Microsoft perhaps clean up the WIN98 files, and forgot there were Office
files in there???

I've been looking in mirrors etc, but never found a French full SR1-A
offline installation package anywhere.
If someone has one on an MSDN CD or so, please let me know how I can
retrieve the French SR1-A for Office 2000...

Dear Peter and friends,

When I go to the Office 2000 Resource Kit web site, 02ksr1adl.exe is no
longer there. Perhaps we now need to access a different web site.
