Unable to update Windows User Account

I am using this field for my own purposes, but sometimes I am able to update
it and other times it is locked out to updates. Could it be that MsProject
Standard 2003 cannot update the field, while MsProject Professional 2003 can?
I use different systems with these versions installed.

Are you using Project Server? If not, you should post your Microsoft
Project desktop application questions in the microsoft.public.project
newsgroup, as this newsgroup is devoted to Project Server questions.

To answer your question, there are some Resource fields that are available
in Project Professional 2003 that are not available in Project Standard
2003. This is because Project Pro connects to Project Server, while Project
Standard does not. I do not have Project Standard, so I cannot absolutely
confirm my answer, but I strongly suspect it is correct. For example, in
Project Pro you can create a Generic resource, while in Project Standard you
cannot. Therefore, if the Windows User Account field is important in your
project management process, I would recommend that you get Project Pro for
everyone involved. Hope this helps.
