Unable to use Word 2003 to compose email in Outlook 2003

Hi,

I am running Office 2003 with SP1. I have my Outlook
options set to use Word 2003 as the email editor (Under
Tools-->Options-->Mail Format, this checkbox is marked).
However when I try to create a new email message, I get an
error popup saying

"Microsoft Word is set to be your email editor. However,
Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same
version as Outlook. The Outlook email editor will be used
instead. An OLE registration error occured. The program is
not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program"

The version number for both Outlook 2003 and Word 2003 are
the same, as shown in Help-->About

Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 (11.6359.6360) SP1 (same for
Word)

I tried one other thing but it didn't work, here it is
anyway:

I reran setup, chose the "Reinstall or Repair" option and
then "Detect and Repair errors.." and also checked
the "Restore my Start Menu Shortcuts". However that didn't
help at all.

Thanks for your help.
