In Publisher i cannot see any pictures, photos, lines, filled text boxes etc.
The outline of the box that the picture, object etc is there when you select
it however there is no fill. This problem exists on new and old publisher
documents. I have checked that the Picture Display is on, have tried
inserting new clip arts and the same problem arises. I have even uninstalled
and reinstalled the program. I have
Publisher 2003 SP1. Any suggestions welcome.

This is a common problem in Pub 2003 that MS seems not to want to fix.
The work around is to turn down your hardware acceleration 3 clicks from
full until directdraw and direct3d acceleration are disabled.
Go to:
display properties/settings/advanced/troubleshoot and turn that sucker down.
That should do it!

This is almost certainly a problem with your video driver.

By going to Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot, and
dragging the Hardware Acceleration slider down three notches, you will be
able to disable Publisher from making the calls on the video driver that
cause this problem.

If this does fix your problem, it means that the problem does indeed lie
with the video driver. You can leave your computer running at this lower
hardware acceleration, but it may cause problems with other programs. It is
a better solution to try and find a driver update for your graphics card.
Normally, the latest drivers from the video card manufacturer will do the
trick, but ATI tend to be slower in perfecting their drivers, so some newer
ATI cards to not yet have drivers available that do not exhibit this
behaviour. The solution here is to nag ATI for better drivers.
