Unable to view graphics in print layout or normal view

I received a document but when I open it, I am unable to see the
graphics/charts, etc when in Normal view or Print Layout view. I can only
see it in reading layout mode. I have checked with others who have received
the same document, but they are able to open it fine in all view modes.

Is there a setting for my version of word that I need to look for to enable
graphics for this document?

Ideas?
