unable to view ppt from internet explorer

Help! I had to do some work on the computer tonight to help fix a spyware
issue. I have ppt 2002 installed and working however when I click on a link
through internet explorer it will not locate and open the file through ppt.
what do i need to do?

Can you double-click a PPT in your computer and cause that to launch
PowerPoint 2002?
