Underlines in messages

Whenever I send someone an email and receive a response, anything in the thread that's older than the most current part of the thread (the current response) is underlined. This includes header information and signatures. I think I've looked everywhere for a setting related to underlining, but I can't seem to find one. Does anyone else have this problem.
