Underlining appearing in docs once printed. Not in draft.

K

Kaidi

New user of XP Pack 2.
This is a long shot with misleading heading. I use macromedia contribute 2
website editor. I edited a page that looked normal in the draft but was 3/4
of text was underlined. This may be a windows problem as not encounted by
Contribute users. I also get underlining when I highlight comment boxes
generally using notepad.(not this one) I have had an upgrade but not all
components were changed.
Any suggestions please. Maybe a more appropriate forum? I wonderedwhere to
post and Frontpage was appropriate as similar programmes.
Thanks in advance

Hi
I think you have misread my question. Macromedia Contribute cannot help and
it was suggested it was a microsoft problem. If frontpage readers have read
this and have had the same problem I would like some feedback. Otherwsie a
relevant MICROSOFT FORUM would be useful. I said in my message
<This may be a windows problem as not encounted by
Contribute users>.
<Frontpage was appropriate (to post) as similar programmes>

Never seen this problem in any MS Office program (which includes FrontPage),
either before or after Windows XP SP2, except where the HTML in a web page
was poorly written (</a> missing from an anchor.)

Hi Ron
Right, now we are getting somewhere. I don't use html and i did find it
in<a> in my text, along with another piece of html code after the Tech had
been in to optimise. I took it out, thinking he was pointing out lack of
capital lettters as no html in any of my other pages I had editied with
contribute and i have used it for well over a year. I can't remember where it
was. It was highlighted in yellow. I thought it was there to tell me that
the text was not capitalised!!!

I can't get into the template region as it was locked, but I am now assuming
the problem was in the text. Can you advise me what I can do?. The optimiser
would never in a million years own up to this or would say i did it when of
course I didn't.
I have to get a designer to go into the template to add any programmes etc.

I have never used contribute so any answer I give will be a guess.
If you post a couple of lines from the underlined text, copying from the
code view a line before the text starts so all the underlying code is
included, I may be able to see what is going wrong.
I repeat - this is a guess.

Hi Ron
many thanks
I remember that the other piece of coding I removed was <font>
I dont have a facility "code view" as this editing package has no html. I
have started where the underlining starts. Above the this texxxt is ok.

This first one is from the published page and the second on is from my
draft. i cannot see the underlining in the draft
The line under the first sentence is a page break.PUBLISHED PAGE

..
PUBLISHED PAGE
i DONT KNOW IF THIS WILL HELP AS THE UNDERLINING ON MY PUBLISHED PAGE IS NOT
SHOWING UP ON THE PAGE WHICH HAS PROBABLY CONVERTED IT TO PLAIN TEXT.
Looking forward to your comments.

Without seeing the underlying code no-one will be able to assist. I do not
understand how you deleted "<font>" without seeing the underlying code,
since this should not display, unless the document was badly constructed in
the first place.

You will probably get better answers from a Macromedia Director newsgroup or
forum.

Thank you for your response.
A web designer saw a few problems and had now fixed it.
