Undesired lines appear across tables

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel My problem is with weird tables doing as they wish... or definately not following my wish!

Funny horizontal lines appear inside some of the cells of my tables: paralel and above the bottom border of the cells. .

I've tried taking away any format or using automatic formats, to then change for the colours of borders and shades I need to include, but nothing works for the moment. My border colour is white the same as the funny lines, my width is 2 + 1/4 width. The funny line is usually thin, or sometimes adds up the funny and mine in one only...

It would be mush easier sending a word file or image or pdf file so you could check, if that was possible. Not sure with my explanation you'll know what I really mean. Did check previous post but didn't find anything like this...

Thanks a lot for any advise!

Hi Yaiza:

You are looking at "nested cells". That usually results from careless
cutting and pasting within tables. Generally, the amount of work needed to
sort them out is so large it is quicker to just convert the table to text
and re-make it.

And "No thanks" to the sample. The problem is that as soon as we enable
that, some of the "slow learners" out there who think we work for Microsoft
will send us a sample of all the most horrible Internet Nasties :) They
have somehow convinced themselves that this would, in some way, "get
Microsoft".

Best cheers

Dear John,

Big THANK YOU for contributing to me keeping my sanity!

This is a very important file to me, and the many tables were doing all this weird things... I have never (consciously) used nested tables. For this file I formatted a first table and then copied and pasted each time a table was needed, to fill in the cells with different information. Probably the nested table was the very first one, reason why I had this all over the file.

Again, thank you!

Cheers, Yaiza

You're welcome :)

Nested tables are far too easy to create accidentally, and far too much
bother once they happen.

Whenever I see one, I usually simply convert it to text and start again,
because sorting them out takes forever.

Cheers
