RE: Office Picture Manager 2003. I over autocorected and improperly resized
ALL my pictures and then save as prompted - Please someone tell me how to
revert to the "original" pictures. 3 years of collecting and 300 pictures
are ruined and blurry and unusable- Especially as a Deskop image--PLEASE
help-I've been trying to solve this for 2 weeks with many emails and no
response. This is very important for my work as well.
Please answer to (e-mail address removed)

Thank you very Much

As far as I know, the "compress" feature only works one way...
you cannot undo it after you save the picture file. If these
pictures are as important to you as you claim, then surely you
must have a recent backup of the files somewhere, and you can
restore the original files from your backup.

I've no idea if this would work or not, but I'll toss it in the ring anyway.
Go to a prior Windows restore point. I guess it's possible the original
pictures might be restored then.

Generally speaking saved always means saved, regardless of the program.
Garfield's right on point when he said that if they were that important then
you'll have a backup somewhere. In your case you compressed a photo but what
if your hard drive went kaput? Different means to the same end - no photos.

Sometimes life hands us lessons that really suck. If this is the worst
lesson you've ever learned, you're blessed. Go hug your
spouse/mom/kids/pet/best friend/self and try to have a nice weekend.

Sometimes life hands us lessons that really suck.

Yeah, and this one really does suck, as far as I'm concerned. Picture
Manager makes it really easy to zap your originals without realizing it. I
think it should offer up better warnings.
If this is the worst lesson you've ever learned, you're blessed.

I can definitely agree with that. (But it still sucks. <g>)

I thought that might be the case, but I figured it was woth a try.

Any chance the photos are still on the camera's memory card?

Isn't it odd how we can think our lives are permanently scarred when we've
lost computer files? It wasn't that many years ago when we had no computer
files to fuss about. It's tough to remember it's only electrons and if we
didn't make a back up we have no one to blame but ourselves, which really
sucks.

That's why I suggested the OP go find someone he/she loves and hug them.
Life's too darned short to worry about pictures for desktop backgrounds. And
now I'm going to get off this beast and go hug someone I love. :)

Thanks JoAnn. I've started to accet this as afact of life and gives me a
fresh perspective on leaving well enough alone. I'm starting to rebuild a
collection, but I think ther's no magic wand and this batch will better than
the last.

Thanks again

You are truly correct. First you think the world will come to an end but then
eventually you realize it's just a "hobby" and it's no big deal. Our
Associate Director at St. John's University did the similiar thing with her
new baby pictures -she over autocorrected using MS picture Mgr. and couldn't
get the originals back. Of course she's a Ph.D. so she backs everything up.
Thanks
