unentered numbers appear

Entering numbers from a catalog; no cell formatting. Just a series of plain
numbers. They are 150,151,154,158,175,177 all entered in one cell. As soon
as Enter is hit, the commas disappear and the 177 changes to 000. Thus
150151154158175000. This happens in any cell. What have I done and how is
it undone?
