Unexpected background color change

T

Tom Stepanski

I created our site years ago with FP97 using the Blocks
Theme without a background picture. www.burroughsco.com
(I like the light yellow.) I have upgraded FP every time
MS came out with a newer version. I have just upgraded to
FP2003.

I went to edit a hyperlink on one of the pages and when I
saved the page the background color changed from light
yellow to light blue. HOWEVER the Preview Pane in FP2003
is still showing the light yellow and not the blue. I
viewed the page using IE6.0.2800.1106xpsp2.030422-1633 on
the computer I edited the page with.

I then checked the page on three different computers
other than the one I used to edit the page. As a
temporary fix I have edited the Theme and am currently
using the background picture. I still prefer the light
yellow.

Is this a bug in FP2003? I do several websites with FP
and I need to know how to correct this problem.

My operating system is XP Pro.

Thank you for any help,

Make sure you use a hex value #
or r,g,b value to set the color.

#F7F9AC
or
247,249,172

are examples of a light yellow.

I did NOT make any changes to the color. I have updated
that site since 1995 using FP and this is the first time
this has happened.

But your reply still does not address the problem that
FP2003 preview page displays a yellow background and the
web displays blue.

what i see is NOT what i get.

I did notice that FP2003 had changed that hex color
number but I did not edit any of the Theme Properties
when I updated that link.

thanks anyway

I understand you didn't change it.
try this,
FrontPage toolbar > Tools > Page Options
HTML source, make sure "Preserve existing html" is checked.
and then in Compatibility make sure it is set to custom.

FP "might" have "tried" to change it to a web safe color.
I merely mentioned using hex or r,g,b, in the event that
you had used a "color name" that is no longer recognized.

Make sure you are applying your theme w/ Vivid Colors (yellow background)
- Default in FP2003 is to not use Vivid Colors (white background)
You can see the differences in Customize Colors and switching between Normal and Vivid views
(you could also customize both to be yellow)
Select the Vivid Option and then apply your theme to all pages

Thanks, I would still like to know why FP2003 is applying
these changes. When I built the site with FP97 I used the
Block theme. With every FP upgrade the Theme was not
affected until this upgrade to 2003.

Also why is my FP2003 "Preview" view showing a yellow
background and the web showing blue background???

Online I see a White background on your home page

FP2003 converted and updated all themes to CSS
