ungroup symbol on my toolbar is shaded gray.Need to use it

My ungroup symbol in my toolbar is gray. I can not use it. How can I turn
it on?

It is available only when a grouped object is selected.

Sometimes with clip-art -- if you change them to a different
layout (from in line with text... to square for example) that will allow you
to then ungroup the clip art object.

Remember -- how it will ungroup depends upon how the original artist grouped
it to begin with.
