Not sure what you mean by 'ungroup' - but you can either change the view to
something else or look or the View menu to Expand and collapse the threads.

You modify the "Messages" view to disable the "Show in Groups" option.

I have the same question Diane. I know you can change the grouping option in
the View menu for the folder which is currently in focus, but how does one
set the view as "ungrouped" for all folders and sub-folders simultaneously? I
have several hundred folders in my PST, and doing this one at a time would be
incredibly inefficient. This is a new and unwanted "feature" with my Outlook
upgrade.

Thanks,

If you use the default view for all folders - Messages - you need to edit
the Messages view (not <current view>) and it applies to all folders using
the view. You need to insure all folders are using the default view so you
need to use the /cleanviews switch to start outlook and wipe out all custom
views.
